Why does your child’s sports team need an athletic trainer?
Does your child’s school or club have an athletic trainer who attends practices and games?
We usually think of athletic trainers as the people who run on to the field or court to treat injured players.
What we don’t see are the hours they spend with athletes rehabilitating their injuries so they can return to the game. They monitor and measure physical improvements, keep tabs on an athlete’s mental state, and communicate to coaches about when a player is ready to return to the game.
Athletic trainers also work to prevent injuries; watch for more on that later this month.
How can you celebrate National Athletic Trainers’ Month?
First – thank the athletic trainer who works with your child’s team for all they do to keep kids safe and care for their injuries.
