Why do we play the national anthem at sporting events?

While I enjoy a long weekend, here’s last year’s popular post, with an explanation of how we started this ritual.

Why do we play the national anthem before games?

When I return on July 16, I will continue to post bi-weekly, with a bonus Title IX-related post on the 23rd of each month in honor of the 50th anniversary of the law this year.

I have been writing Lessons from the driveway for 18 months, and there is no shortage of topics when it comes to youth sports. If you’ve missed a few posts, subscribed recently, or are looking for information on something specific, you can explore Lessons on the Driveway by topic on my website.

But—what do you want to know more about? What do you find most helpful or interesting? I’d love to know. Email me at hawkinsonchristine@gmail.com.

Enjoy the holiday weekend!
