Youth sports injuries: Keeping health care providers busy for over 20 years

I’ve been writing Lessons from the Driveway for almost two years. I am never at a loss for topics related to youth sports, but there is one topic I especially hope parents and coaches of young athletes will learn more about: youth sports injuries.

Did you know:

  • More than 3.5 million children under age 14 receive medical treatment for sports injuries annually.

  • High school athletes account for over 2 million yearly injuries, with 30,000 leading to hospitalizations.

  • Overuse injuries are responsible for nearly half of all sports injuries to middle and high school students.

  • Over half of all youth sports injuries are preventable.

I’ve written several posts about youth sports injuries. Today, I invite you to visit my library and select your own topic or check out one of my resources below. And, watch for more on this topic in 2023.
